Box Score 2Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team fell twice on Sunday at nearby Life Time Athletic, to visiting Colgate and Villanova, 1-4, in both contests. The losses move the Rams to 3-3 early in the spring season.
Both matches were a 4+1 format.
The Raiders met with Fordham first, at 2 p.m., and took the lone doubles contest, 6-2, 6-4, with Tom Haile and Dean Koman of Colgate defeating Fordham's
Joseph Kavaloski and
Cameron Posillico.
In singles action, Fordham picked up its first and lone point of the contest when
Tomas Cosmai dropped Nick Laub, 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 in #1 singles. However, the Raiders rattled off three straight singles victories to end the match at 4-1.
Doubles play began at 7 p.m. against Villanova with Kavaloski staying on the court to pair with
Nick Borak this time, but the duo lost to Luis Miranda and William Elmore, 6-4, 6-1.
Cosmai fell in his second match of the day, to Chris Seitz, 6-1, 6-0, and so did teammate
Victor Li in #2 singles to Bradley Noyes, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. Senior
Pedro Alonso grabbed the Rams' lone point with a solid 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Jimmy Purdy in #3 singles. However, it was Thomas Dodson who clinched victory for the Wildcats with a 6-4, 6-0 win over
Cameron Posillico.
The Rams continue a stretch of six straight home matches – in Harrison, N.Y. – when they host Marist and Wagner next Sunday, February 28. Matches are set to begin against the former at 2 p.m.
