Photo Gallery Competition at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship has concluded at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, with the Fordham men's swimming and diving team finishing eighth out of eight teams. The Rams scored 165 points for the Championship.
The best performance on the final night of competition came from senior
Steve Sholdra, who capped his Fordham career in style. He won his second event of the Championship, winning the 200 butterfly event in a school and Atlantic 10 record time of 1:47.10. The time was also an NCAA "B" cut time.
Sophomore
Chris Viera joined Sholdra as a scorer in the 200 butterfly, as he placed 14
th in the event in 1:51.47.
Fordham also scored in the 200 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay on the final day. The Rams had a trio of scorers in the "B" final of the 200 backstroke with
Miguel Mattox taking 12
th (1:50.07),
Isiah Magsino finishing 14
th (1:52.02), and
Ethan D'Arcangelo grabbing 16
th (1:54.00).
Chris Viera In the final event of the Championship, Fordham's 400 freestyle relay team of
Jack Madigan, Mattox,
Scott Brown, and
Tommy Christensen took seventh in the event with a time of 3:07.87.
Elsewhere at the Championship, Madigan was Fordham's top performer in the 100 freestyle, placing 26
th in 47.15 seconds, while
John Furlong had the Rams' best time in the 200 breaststroke, taking 20
th overall in 2:08.97.
