Photo GalleryThe Fordham swimming & diving team kicked off its four-day stint at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

A total of five events were held on the opening day with Fordham scoring in four of those events. The Fordham women are in third place out of 11 teams with 58 points, trailing Richmond with 74 and Davidson with 70. The Fordham men's team stands in eighth place out of eight squads with 30 points.

The day began with the men's one-meter diving events, where
Colin Esterine-Reid and
Christopher Craig both scored for the Rams. Esterine-Reid placed 12
th overall with a score of 197.85, while Craig was 14
th with a score of 162.70.

The next event was the 200 medley relay, where the Fordham women placed fifth overall, as
Morgan Fairclough,
Gabrielle Celia,
Shannon Lulley, and
Chandler Lulley clocked in with a season-best time of 1:43.07.

The final event of day was the 800 freestyle relay. The women's team of
Kalena Laurent,
Megan Gray,
Erin McBride, and
Megan Polaha grabbed fourth place for the Rams with a season-best time of 7:25.64. In the men's race,
Steve Sholdra,
Tommy Christensen,
Chris Viera, and
Miguel Mattox placed eighth with a season-best time of 6:46.62.

Day two of the championship begins at 10:00 AM on Thursday with the preliminaries for the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, and women's one-meter diving. Finals of those events plus the 200 freestyle relay take place at 6:30 PM.
