For their play through the first half of Atlantic 10 Conference action, Fordham basketball players
Ryan Rhoomes and
Samantha Clark distinguished themselves as the Zipcar Performers of the Month for the month of January.
Rhoomes helped Fordham to three conference wins during the month of January. He averaged 13.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks over the course of the month, and was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week once. He scored in double figures in eight of nine games, shooting 63.6% from the field (49-77), highlighted by a 25-point, 18-rebound, and four-block performance against La Salle on January 6th. He also notched 18 points and eight rebounds against Richmond on January 10th, while registering a double-double at Rhode Island with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Clark continued to be a dominant force for the women's basketball team in January, averaging a double-double at 10.9 points and 10.5 rebounds over eight contests. She recorded four double-doubles in the month against Davidson, George Mason, Saint Joseph's, and VCU to bring her season total to ten. Shooting 48.5% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range, her biggest performance came on Field Trip Day in front of a packed Rose Hill Gym against George Mason. She scored 14 points to go with 14 rebounds and six blocks on the afternoon to help the Rams to a victory.
