Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham swimming & diving team closed out competition for this semester on Wednesday, sweeping its dual meet with Manhattan College at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center. The Fordham women earned a 172-75 win, while the men topped the Jaspers, 153-109.
In the women's competition, Fordham had four multi-event winners, led by
Megan Polaha, who won the 50 (28.73) and 100 (59.82) backstroke events, and
Kalena Laurent, who took the top spot in the 50 freestyle (25.34) and 50 butterfly (26.47).
Marie Feneron also won multiple events, taking first in the 100 butterfly (59.58) and the 100 individual medley (1:01.82), while
Wendy Espina-Esquivel won both diving events, scoring 294.00 points on the one-meter board and a season-high 307.13 points on the three-meter board.

Other individual winners on the women's side included
Natalie Brown in the 200 freestyle (2:00.59),
Deirdre McGrath in the 50 breaststroke (32.92),
Chloe Mitchell in the 100 freestyle (54.56),
Morgan Fairclough in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.98), and
Nele Albers in the 500 freestyle (5:17.97).
In relay action, the 200 medley relay team of Polaha, Fairclough,
Amelia Bullock and Laurent took first in 1:52.56, while the team of
Theresa Mullen,
Natalie Malicki,
Gabrielle Celia, and
Samantha McDonald had the top time in 1:42.07.
In the men's competition,
Greg Lombana and
Isiah Magsino were both multiple event winners. Lombana won the 100 butterfly (52.65) and the 500 freestyle (4:54.37), while Magsino took first in the 50 backstroke (24.81) and 100 individual medley (55.02) events.

Other swimming event winners for the men were
Sean Finlay in the 50 breaststroke (27.58),
Liam Semple in the 50 freestyle (22.16),
Grant Durner in the 100 freestyle (48.79),
Joseph Venneri in the 100 backstroke (55.14), and
Kevin Berry in the 50 butterfly (23.69). In the men's diving events,
Christopher Craig was first on the one-meter board with a career-high score of 261.82, while
Colin Esterine-Reid took the top spot on the three-meter board with a career-high score of 305.10.
In relay action, the 200 medley relay team of Magsino,
Travis Monahan,
Joe Mercurio, and
Joseph Vizza took first in 1:34.73, while the 200 freestyle relay team of
Andrew Glockenmeier, Venneri,
Matt Luther, and Monahan won in 1:30.48.
The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on January 21
st, when the Rams compete in a tri-meet with La Salle and Richmond in Philadelphia, Pa.
