Newport News, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly swimming and diving awards this afternoon with Fordham freshman
Joseph Vizza (North Wales, Pa.) being named the Men's Rookie of the Week. It is Vizza's second weekly award of the season.
Vizza had a big weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, which included setting a school record in the 200 freestyle event, he clocked in at 1:38.85 to finish second overall, breaking Shintaro Noguchi's 2013 record of 1:39.37.
He also took second in the 100 freestyle (45.37), fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:33.23), and 11th in the 100 backstroke (51.91).
In relay action, Vizza was a member of the 400 freestyle relay that took third (3:03.88), the 800 freestyle relay in fourth (6:49.48), the 400 medley relay that took fourth (3:22.47), and the 200 freestyle relay which was second (1:22.25).
Vizza and the rest of the swimming & diving team will next be in action on Wednesday, December 7, as the Rams host Manhattan at 6:00 PM.
