Kansas City, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its All-Region teams this afternoon, and three Fordham Rams were named to the All-Midwest Region Team, which are selected from players in the Atlantic 10 Conference, Colonial Athletic Association, and the Big Ten Conference.
Fordham sophomore forward
Janos Loebe (Kierspe, Germany) and sophomore goalkeeper
Rashid Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) were selected to the All-Midwest Region Second Team, while junior midfielder
Jannik Loebe (Kierspe, Germany) earned Third Team honors. A total of eight Atlantic 10 players were named All-Region.
All three players were big parts of the Rams' run to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship and an NCAA Championship berth this past November.
Janos receives NSCAA All-Region honors for the second straight season, after being named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference in 2016. He tied for the team lead in goals (7), assists (6), and points (20) and was one of five players named to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team. In just two seasons at Fordham, he has compiled 35 points in 39 games, notching 12 goals and 11 assists.
Nuhu was a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection this past season, setting career-best marks in goals against average (0.75), save percentage (.819), shutouts (7), and minutes played (1805). He saved his best play for the postseason, recording three shutouts in the Atlantic 10 Championship and stopping three penalty kicks in a shootout, on route to being named the Atlantic 10 Championship's Most Outstanding Player. Then in the Rams' NCAA First Round match at Boston College, he made a career-high 10 saves in a 1-0 loss.
Jannik garners All-Region accolades after being named First Team All-Atlantic 10 this season and making his third appearance on the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team. He tied his brother for the team lead in goals (7), assists (6), and points (20), as well as being second on the team in game-winning goals with two. Over his three-year stay at Fordham, he has been clutch, netting seven career game-winning goals and 41 points in 59 games.
