Full Listing of NSCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region Team

Kansas City, Mo. - The 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.  Among those honored were Fordham senior defenders Nicole Bates (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Ally Doyle (Fairfield, Conn.), who both named to the All-East Second Team.  They joined fellow Atlantic 10 players, Alexis Kiehl (Dayton - All-East First Team), Kacey Bright (Saint Louis - All-North/Central First Team), and Mary Niehaus (Saint Louis - All-North/Central Third Team) as honorees.

Bates and Doyle helped anchor the Rams' defense to a 0.94 goals against average and eight shutouts this season, which both rank as the third-best single season totals in school history.  The Rams allowed one goal or less in 15 of 20 games this season.

An Applied Accounting & Finance major, Bates was named 2016 CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American® in November and Academic All-District.  She is a three-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team the last two seasons.  A 2016 tri-captain and a preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, Bates was a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection this season, after earning Second Team honors a year ago.  She was also an NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team and ECAC All-Star First Team selection. Offensively, Bates netted a career-high three goals, including two game winners.

Bates played in every game over the last four seasons, starting 73 of 77 games, which is fourth all-time at Fordham.

Doyle, a Communications & Media Studies major with a concentration in Journalism, was also a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection this year, after earning Second Team honors in 2015.  A Preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection and a 2016 tri-captain, she had a career-best three points this season on a goal and an assist.

For her career, Doyle appeared in 70 games for Fordham, starting 56, and had one goal and three assists for five points.
