Bronx, N.Y. – Green and red are the traditional colors for Christmas. But on Tuesday it was Maroon and White as for the third straight year members of the Fordham football, softball, men's soccer, women's soccer and women's swimming teams played Santa, paid a visit to the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, to distribute gifts to the patients.
Â
The Rams walked the halls of the children's hospital, stopping off at patient rooms to deliver a stuffed animal, book or toy and to spread holiday cheer to those who may not be home for Christmas.
Â
The visit was arranged by former Ram Dr. Joseph T. Boyer, FCRH '84, an attending in Pediatric Pulmonology and a former member of the football team, who escorted the student-athletes through the facility.
Â
"I'm delighted that Fordham student-athletes came back to the hospital this year," said Dr. Boyer. "I realized that this is a busy time of the year for them, with finals starting tomorrow, and so for them to come here today means so much to all the patients here at the center. The reaction of some of the children is incredible. When the kids see them, even if they are having a bad day, they get excited."
