Newport News, Va. – Fordham volleyball standout
Olivia Fairchild has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Fairchild helped the Rams to a 1-1 mark this weekend in the Bronx. This is Fairchild's fifth overall award, after also earning Co-Player of the Week a month ago.
Â
Fairchild is rounding out her tremendous freshman campaign in the Bronx in typical fashion, helping Fordham rally twice against George Mason on Friday and blow past George Washington on Sunday. Fairchild totaled 41 kills on the weekend at a .250 clip with five aces, 10 digs, and four blocks. The freshman tallied 23 kills in the five-set thriller on Friday and was instrumental in the Rams' victory on Sunday. She led all players in kills in both matches.
The Phoenix native ranks fourth in the country with 56 aces, seventh in kills (471), seventh in points (547.5), and 21st in total attacks (1,159).
Â
Fairchild is just 10 kills away from tying Val Bosticco for the third-most kills in a single season in program history and 14 from Tasha Johnston in second. Her 56 aces rank seventh-most in a single season at Fordham. All four of her aces on Sunday came after the second set. Her kills per set average (4.36) would be the highest of any Ram in school history by a wide margin; Johnston is currently tops with 3.92.

Fordham hosts Rhode Island in the regular season finale next Saturday afternoon in the Rose Hill Gym at 2 p.m.
