Friday Results
Princeton, N.J. – The Fordham swimming & diving team began a two-day stint at the Big Al Open/Princeton Invitational on Friday night at the DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, N.J. There was no team scoring in the invitational format.
The Rams had a solid opening day posting seven top five finishes and 19 finishes in the top 15 over seven events.
In the women's competition,
Tara Brunner had the best individual finish for Fordham, taking fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.14 seconds, where she was followed by
Samantha McDonald in 15
th place in 24.76 seconds.
Diver
Wendy Espina-Esquivel also placed fifth in the three-meter diving event, scoring 272.55 points with
Stephanie Kerkeles placing 14
th with a score of 219.65.
Travis Monahan
In the 500 freestyle,
Erin McBride was Fordham's top finisher in tenth place in 5:07.49, followed by
Catherine Alabanza in 14
th overall (5:09.81), while in the 200 individual medley,
Megan Polaha was tenth in the event in 2:08.57 with
Amelia Bullock taking 13
th in 2:09.32.
In relay action, Fordham placed fifth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.28, while the 400 medley relay was also fifth in 3:55.68.
In men's action,
Joseph Vizza was the top finisher, taking fifth in the 500 freestyle in 4:40.09, followed by Chris Sleutjes in 13
th (4:43.76).
Isiah Magsino also earned a fifth place finish on Friday in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:54.88 with
Chris Viera placing 11
th in 1:57.41.
In the 50 freestyle,
Travis Monahan was the top finisher in 13
th place in 21.49 seconds, while in the one meter dive,
Christopher Craig and
Colin Esterine-Reid were 11
th (202.40) and 12
th (201.55), respectively.
In relay action, the Fordham 200 freestyle relay was fifth in 1:25.97 with the 400 medley relay taking sixth in 3:33.25.
The Big Al Open/Princeton Invitational concludes on Saturday with a full day of action, starting at 9:00 AM.
