Princeton, N.J. – The Fordham Swimming & diving team completed action at the Big Al Open/Princeton Invitational on Saturday with some strong results, as the Rams had 37 top ten finishes.
The Rams were led by freshman
Amelia Bullock, who won the 200 butterfly event in 2:01.53, while taking second in the 100 butterfly in 56.44 seconds. She was also a part of the 200 medley relay with
Morgan Fairclough,
Gabrielle Celia, and
Theresa Mullen, which finished third (1:47.74).
Megan Polaha also had a big day, placing third in the 400 individual medley (4:31.22), seventh in the 100 butterfly (58.00), and sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:06.24). She was also a part of the 800 freestyle relay team with
Erin McBride,
Chloe Mitchell, and Cat Alabanza, which took fifth in 7:51.30.
Alabanza also had a good day, taking third in the 200 backstroke (2:03.48), sixth in the 400 individual medley (4:35.03), ninth in the 100 backstroke (59.23), and 11
th in the 200 butterfly (2:09.68).
Tara Brunner was another performer for Fordham on Saturday, placing fourth in the 100 freestyle (52.85) and ninth in the 200 freestyle (1:56.49), while joining McBride,
Kalena Laurent, and Mullen in the 400 freestyle relay for a fourth place finish in 3:34.95. McBride also had a pair of top ten finishes individually in the 200 freestyle (8
th – 1:56.35) and the 1650 freestyle (10
th – 17:51.12).

Besides the swimming events,
Wendy Espina-Esquivel was Fordham's top finisher in the one-meter dive with a score of 245.60, good for eighth overall.
In the men's competition on Saturday,
Chris Viera had the top finish, taking second in the 200 butterfly in 1:54.89, while also placing sixth with
Liam Semple,
Travis Monahan, and Joseph VIzza in the 800 freestyle relay in 7:03.87.
Vizza had another impressive outing for the Rams, taking fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:42.88), 13
th in the 100 freestyle (47.42), and 13
th in the 100 backstroke (53.87). He was also a part of the 400 freestyle relay with
Jack Madigan, Semple, and
Joe Mercurio that was sixth (3:11.80).
Monahan also had a pair of top ten finishes, placing fourth in both the 100 (58.87) and 200 (2:08.71) breaststroke events, while
Isiah Magsino was fourth in the 100 backstroke (52.48), seventh in the 400 individual medley (4:12.08), and 11
th in the 200 backstroke (1:57.88).
Chris Sleutjes had the final big performance of the day, taking fourth in the 1650 freestyle in 16:24.52.
