Men’s Basketball Holds Tip-Off Reception

Fordham fans get a first look at the 2016-17 Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham fans and supporters got a first look at the 2016-2017 men's basketball team tonight as the Rams held the 2016 Tip-Off Reception in the Rose Hill Gym.

Those in attendance were able to watch the Rams practice for the first hour and then the student-athletes showered and joined the supporters for a reception.

Director of Athletics Dave Roach and head coach Jeff Neubauer spoke to the crowd. Neubauer spoke of the hard work the Rams are putting in during the preseason and how the team will have a new look this winter with the addition of seven new players. He also mentioned that the style of play will be different as the Rams will look to utilize the three-pointer even more this year.

"Last year we set a school record with 243 three-pointers and we plan on crushing that record this year," said Neubauer.

Neubauer brought up junior forward Christian Sengfelder who spoke on behalf of the student-athletes. Sengfelder spoke of the fun he is having and the dedication of this year's squad.

"I'm having more fun this year than I've had in many years," said Sengfelder. "This team is working hard. Last year you would see  a couple of guys staying around after practice to work on things but now you see just about everyone staying around to continue working to get better."

The Rams open the 2016-2017 season on Friday night, November 11, as the travel to Johnson City, Tennessee, to face the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m.
