Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team defeated Seton Hall 6-1 this afternoon on Hawthorn Rooney Courts. After dropping the doubles point, the Rams swept the singles matches for the victory.
The Pirates opened the afternoon taking the doubles point as Luize Strike and Anna Fajnorova defeated
Estelle Wong and
Mayu Sato 8-5 and Michal Matson and Anniek Jansen defeated
Carina Ma and
Alexis Zobeideh 8-6.
Maia Balce and
Gianna Insogna won the lone doubles match for the Rams over Katie Kim and Thandy Kangwa 8-2.
In first singles play,
Carina Ma defeated Luize Strike 7-5, 6-3. In second singles,
Estelle Wong beat Anna Fajnorova 6-2, 7-5 and
Mayu Sato defeated Michal Matson 6-3, 6-4 in third singles. In #4 singles,
Maia Balce defeated Melody Taal 6-0, 6-1,
Gianna Insogna beat Katie Kim 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in #5 singles and
Destiny Grunin wrapped things up defeating Anniek Jansen 6-3, 6-1 in sixth singles.
The Rams are back in action October 20-24 at the ITA Regionals.
