Box ScoreThe Fordham Men's Tennis team kicked off its spring campaign in dominant fashion – with a 7-0 victory at Saint Peter's in Jersey City – and moved to 3-0 on the year. The Peacocks fall to 0-4 with the result.
"Great start to the season," said head coach Michael Sowter after the final match, "I was extremely pleased with how hard everyone battled, especially when the matches were tight. We have some work to do in doubles but overall it was a solid performance."
The Rams started the day off by earning the doubles point, 2-1.
Victor Li and
Nick Borak took the first match, 6-1, before the duo of
Pedro Alonso and
Joseph Kavaloski dropped the second, 6-2. It was a battle for the point but one that Tomas Cosmai and
Cameron Posillico were up for, taking down their counterparts, 7-5.
With the point in hand, the visitors only needed three consecutive singles victories to earn the team win. All three victories were two-set sweeps. Kavaloski started off with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Gabriel Russotto, Borak took down Andres-Sebastian Rojas, 6-1, 6-3, and Alonso clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jonathan Paredes.
Li and Cosmai each earned three-set victories after Alonso's clincher with the former notching a 2-6, 6-3, 12-10 win over Jorge Rodriguez. Cosmai defeated Daniil Ivanov, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-8, and Posillico rounded out the impressive results with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Douglas Nover.
