Ryan Rhoomes was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for games played from January 3-10, it was announced today. The award is the first weekly honor for Rhoomes and the first A-10 Player of the Year accolade for a Ram since Branden Frazier in December of 2013.
In a pair of games on the week, Rhoomes averaged 21.5 ppg and 13.0 rpg, shooting .773 (17-22) from the field. He also added six blocks, three steals and three assists.
In a 66-61 win over La Salle on Wednesday, Rhoomes scored 25 points and added a career-high 18 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the year, while in a 93-82 loss to Richmond on Sunday he scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds while also recording three steals.
On the year, Rhoomes is averaging 14.5 ppg and 8.4 rpg, shooting a sizzling .697 (85-122) from the field while recording a team-high 31 blocks. He leads the Atlantic 10, and is third in the NCAA, in field goal percentage while ranking second in the conference in both rebounding and blocks.
The Rams, 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic 10, return to action on Wednesday night, January 13, as they travel to Richmond, Va., to face the VCU Rams in an Atlantic 10 matchup at 7:00 p.m. in a game that will be televised on the American Sports Network (ASN).
