Bronx, N.Y. – With the season opener at Army a few days away, it's time to wrap up our position-by-position breakdown of the 2015 Rams by closing out things with a peek at the special teams unit.
An optimist would say that the glass is half full for the Fordham special teams squad while a pessimist may say it's half empty as the Rams return All-Patriot League punter
Joe Pavlik but lost All-Patriot League placekicker
Michael Marando to graduation.
Last year Pavlik earned second team All-Patriot League honors as a sophomore, punting 54 times for 2,095 yards (38.8 yards/punt). He downed 15 of his punts inside the 20, had 25 fair caught and had five punts for over 50 yards.
Looking to replace Marando as the placekicker are junior
Makay Redd and sophomore
Alejandro Cardenas. Redd handled some of the kickoff duties in 2013 for the Rams while Cardenas did not see action as a freshman.
Other kickers who are looking to see action are sophomore
Spencer Ferrigan, an honorable mention all-state kicker at Bethlehem Central High School in New York, and freshman and
Kyle Facibene, a 2014 CHSFL All-Star team selection at St. Anthony's High School on Long Island.
Junior
Robert Carlyle returns at long snapper after handling most of the long snapping duties in 2014.
