Men’s Basketball Releases 2015-2016 Non-Conference Schedule

Rams to host nine non-conference games in Rose Hill Gym, including St. John’s

Bronx, N.Y. (August 28, 2015) - The 2015-2016 Fordham University men's basketball non-conference schedule was released today and it features nine home games in the historic Rose Hill Gym as well as a game at the Barclays Center as part of the Atlantic 10/ACC Challenge.
 
The Rams open the 2015-2016 season, Fordham's 113th varsity season, with their only non-conference game outside of New York City, on Saturday night, November 14, as they travel to Arlington, Texas, to face the University of Texas at Arlington at 8:30 p.m. in the first ever meeting between the two schools.
 
Fordham then returns to the Bronx for the first of nine straight games in the Rose Hill Gym on Tuesday night, November 17, as the Rams host Queens College, the eighth matchup between the Rams and the Knights, the first since 1965.

Fairleigh Dickinson then pays a visit to Rose Hill on Saturday, November 21, the first ever meeting between the Rams and the Knights, before Fordham hosts Colgate on Tuesday, November 24, as part of a Fordham basketball doubleheader with the Fordham women hosting prior to the men's game. It will be the 30th all-time meeting between the Rams and the Raiders.
 
Fordham closes out the month of November with the annual Battle of Bronx as Manhattan College ventures across the borough to face the Rams in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday, November 28. It will be the 107th meeting between the Rams and the Jaspers, the most for any Fordham opponent.
 
On Tuesday, December 2, the St. John's University Red Storm comes to the Bronx for a game with the Rams in the Rose Hill Gym. It will be St. John's first visit to the Bronx since 2010 and the 86th overall meeting between the two teams.
 
The December home slate continues with visits from Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, December 5, LIU Brooklyn on Tuesday, December 8, Coppin State on Sunday, December 13, and the University of Maine on Saturday, December 19.  It will be the second meeting between Fordham and Central Connecticut, the 16th between the Rams and LIU, the first between Fordham and Coppin State and the second between the Rams and Maine.
 
The non-conference slate ends with a match up against Boston College at The Barclays Center on Tuesday, December 22, as part of the Atlantic 10/ACC Challenge. The other contest at Barclays that day will be Saint Joseph's versus Virginia Tech.
 
The Fordham men's Atlantic 10 schedule will consist of 18 games, nine home and nine away, with the Rams facing five opponents in a home-and-home series. First-year head coach Jeff Neubauer's squad will take on La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Richmond and Saint Joseph's twice during the 2015-2016 season
 
In addition to the home games with La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Richmond and Saint Joseph's, the Rams will host Davidson, Dayton, George Mason and St. Bonaventure in league play. Fordham will travel to Duquesne, George Washington, Saint Louis, and VCU in 2015-2016.
 
Conference play will begin in early January and conclude the weekend prior to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship, which will be played March 9-13, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
 
On the court, head coach Neubauer's Rams will be led by senior guard Mandell Thomas, who became the 35th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point mark last year when he averaged 13.3 ppg and led the squad with 112 assists.  
 
Also back are sophomore forward Christian Sengfelder, who was named to the 2015 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team after averaging 11.7 ppg and 7.1 rpg, junior guard Jon Severe (6.7 ppg) and senior forward Ryan Rhoomes (6.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg) along with senior center Ryan Canty, who returns after missing last season with an injury.
