Photo Gallery Bronx, N.Y. – We continue a position-by-position look at the 2015 Fordham University football Rams by checking in with the wide receivers and tight ends.
The Rams lost a plethora of experience with the graduation of the top five pass catchers from 2014, including All-Americans
Brian Wetzel and
Tebucky Jones, Jr. along with All-American tight end
Dan Light.
But what the 2015 Fordham receiving corps lacks in experience, it makes up for in depth as the roster features 14 wide receivers and four tight ends.
The receiving unit will be led by seniors
Robbie Cantelli,
Tony Patrignelli and
Ben Johnson while at tight end, senior
Phazahn Odom returns to cover the position. Cantelli and Patrignelli each hauled in a touchdown pass last fall while Odom had five receptions for 56 yards and Johnson saw action in eight games, making one catch.
Also back at wide out are juniors
Jorge Solano, who missed last year with an injury,
Kyvaune Brammer, who played in three games last fall, and
Luke Arlotto, who appeared in four games as a sophomore, along with sophomore
Tanner Morrow.
Freshmen who are looking for playing time in 2015 include
Jordan Allen, a 2013 First Team All-ISL selection;
Corey Caddle, an ESPN New Jersey Top-50 Player at Saint Peter's Prep last year;
Austin Longi, a two-time All-FCIAC First Team selection who netted 3,000 all-purpose yards as a senior;
Jonathan Lumley, a First Team All-State selection at St. George's School;
Andrew Prince, a three-year starter at Palm Beach Gardens High School;
Noah Nix, a two-way starter on the state semifinalists team at The Westminster School; and
Dan Halligan, a product of Bergen Catholic High School.
Joining Odom at tight end this fall are sophomore
James Orfini, who saw action in three games last year, along with freshmen
Isaiah Searight, a Second Team New Jersey All-State selection, and
Andrew Force, a two-time First Team all-conference selection.
Here are some notes from camp today:
Head coach Joe Moorhead with Anthony SenerchiaLast night, the Rams welcomed Anthony and Jeanette Senerchia, along with their daughter Taya, to campus. Anthony Senerchia was the genesis of the pairing the Ice Bucket Challenge with AKS. The disease hit close to home for the Rams last year as former Ram tight end lost his father, Dan, Sr., to the disease in the summer prior to his junior year. For more information go to
http://asjfoundation.com/ Today's session was the third two-a-day of camp.
The afternoon session started with a punt return competition between the offense and defense for a Winning Edge point.
The morning session ended with a field goal kicking contest to decide the Winning Point, which was won by the offense – thanks to a 42-yard
Makay Redd field goal, while the afternoon session ended with a two-point conversion attempt which was thwarted by the defense to earn the point.
Two assistant coaches celebrated birthdays this week with co-defensive coordinator
Jon Wholley having his birthday on Tuesday and wide receiver coach
Mark Dupuis celebrating his today.
Coach Moorhead's quote of the day:
"Coaches are like cough syrup. It doesn't always taste good but its goal is to make you better."
