Softball's Rachel Gillen Named Zipcar Athlete of the Month

Bronx, N.Y. - After closing out her season by earning All-Atlantic 10 and All-NFCA All-Region honors, redshirt junior Rachel Gillen of the softball team was named the Fordham Athletics Zipcar Performer of the Month for May. It is her second straight Zipcar Performer of the Month honor.
 
For the month of May, Gillen excelled both in the circle and at the plate. She was 5-1 in the circle with a 1.44 ERA, with five complete games and two shut outs. She struck out 57 while walking only 12 in 48.2 innings and held opponents to hitting .200 against her.
 
At the plate, Gillen hit .400 (12-30) with three doubles, two home runs and six RBI.
 
Gillen closed out the season by earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She also earned Atlantic 10 Championship's Most Outstanding Player honors as she helped the Rams to their third straight A-10 title.
