Rachel Gillen was one of two pitchers selected to the second team of the 2015 ECAC Division I Softball All-Star Team, it was announced Wednesday by the organization. The southpaw was already named First Team All-Atlantic 10 as a pitcher, Second Team All-Atlantic 10 as a designated player, the Atlantic 10 Championship's Most Outstanding Player and First Team NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region as a pitcher/designated player.
Gillen produced a historical season in the circle for the Rams en route to finishing 24-9 with a 2.33 ERA over 39 appearances. Here is where she stacks up:
- 33 starts in the circle are the third most in single-season history
- 20 complete games tie for the sixth most in single-season history
- 24 wins are tied for the third most in single-season history
- 213.1 innings pitched are the fourth most in single-season history
- 250 strikeouts are the fourth most in single-season history
- Eight shutouts are tied for third most in single-season history
Gillen also started 46 of 50 games as a pitcher/designated hitter and slashed .374/.401/.568 with 16 runs, 52 hits, nine doubles, six home runs and 39 RBI.
