Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham basketball's
Bryan Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) graduated a little over a week ago and has his first job interview on Saturday, May 30, as he competes in the Gotham Hoops Invitational at Adelphi University. The second-year event will serve as a showcase for the top men's college basketball seniors in the Tri-State area.
Smith appeared in 106 career games at Fordham, scoring 902 career points (8.5 ppg). He connected on 156 career three-pointers, eighth best in school history, and dished out 183 career assists while he also notched 125 career steals. As a senior captain last year, Smith averaged 6.5 ppg and 3.1 rpg while also recording 64 assists and 30 steals.
Smith is looking to following in the footsteps of
Branden Frazier, who appeared in the inaugural Gotham Hoops Invitational last year. Frazier signed with The Bright Kings Den Helder (Eredivisie) in Holland last September before moving to Kaposvari in the Hungary A Division where he averaged 15.5 ppg and 5.8 apg.
The 2015 Gotham Hoops Invitational will be played before international coaches and scouts, providing an opportunity for these seniors to pursue professional basketball careers. The evening double-header will be open to the public.
Gotham Hoops Invitational alumni were found in professional leagues in 14 countries in 2014-15.
