Torrington Road Race to Honor Fordham Runner Michael Walsh

Torrington Road Race To Be Held August 9th

The Torrington Road Race Committee, along with the Torrington Chapter of UNICO, is honoring a former Fordham cross country runner, Michael Walsh, during the 44th running of the Torrington Road Race this summer.
 
The event is a five mile road race starting at 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 9th.  More particulars can be found on the Torrington Road Race web site at www.torringtonrace.com.
 
The Torrington Road Race Committee will offer any participant who identifies himself/herself as a Fordham associate a reduced entry fee of $10.00.
 
The event will honor Michael Walsh, a 2011 Fordham College at Rose Hill graduate and four-year member of the cross country and track and field teams.  Walsh was killed when struck by a snow plow earlier this winter in his hometown of Torrington, Connecticut.

In addition to the Torrington Road Race, the Michael E. Walsh Memorial 5K Race will be held June 28th at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut.

The race starts at 9:00 AM with a kids 1/4 mile fun run at 8:30 AM.  Registration opens at 7:30 AM.

Cost per runner is $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the race.  The first 150 people to register will receive T-shirts.  Proceeds from the race will be donated to Friends in Service to Humanity of Northwestern CT (FISH NWCT).
