CoSIDA Release

Bronx, N.Y. (May 14, 2015) – Fordham University senior rower Nicole Arrato was named first team Capital One Academic All-District, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom it was announced today. She will now be placed on the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America® consideration. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.

Arrato, a psychology major with a minor in Spanish who sports a 3.99 GPA, is a four-year member of the women's rowing team.  A two-time selection to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team for rowing, she has competed in the Rams' top boat all four years, including serving in the varsity 8 this season, grabbing bronze at the 2015 Kerr Cup and third in the petite final at the 2015 Dad Vails.

"Nicole is one of the best rowers I've had in all my years at Fordham," said head coach Ted Bonanno. "She has been a member of our top boat since day one and has proven to be a leader, both on, and off the water."

Arrato was the recipient of the Kieran Award at the 2015 Block F Dinner which is presented to the Fordham College senior athlete who has made significant academic and athletic contributions.  The award honors the memory of John Kieran, Fordham College Class of 1912, and a famous radio broadcaster, sports editor of the New York Times and a member of Baseball's Hall of Fame.
