Rachel Gillen makes it back-to-back-to-back Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week selections, it was announced Monday by the league. She has now won this award six times this season.
Gillen, a southpaw from Wilmington, Del., moved to 19-8 and tossed two more complete games to give her 15 this season while collecting her sixth shutout. She did not allow an earned run over 12.0 innings, which lowered her overall ERA to 2.59, and gave her a perfect 0.00 for the week. She scattered three hits, walked none and fanned three in the 5.0 inning complete-game shutout in the opener against George Washington, needing only 65 pitches. She allowed three more hits, walked three, whiffed six and narrowly missed another shutout in the series when an unearned run scored in her second complete-game of the weekend.
The Rams return to action Wednesday, April 29 when they welcome St. John's to Bahoshy Field for the final home game of the season, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
