The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly baseball awards on Monday and Fordham freshman pitcher
Ben Greenberg (Scarborough, Maine) was selected as the league's Rookie of the Week. It is Greenberg's first career weekly award.
Additionally, Greenberg was also selected as the Corvais ECAC Baseball Rookie of the Week for the Division I Metro/Upstate Region.
Greenberg came up big in the series finale against Saint Louis on Sunday, where the Rams completed the first sweep of the Billikens by an Atlantic 10 opponent since 2012. He tossed eight shutout innings, scattering seven hits and striking out four, as Fordham shutout Saint Louis, 3-0. It was the first time Saint Louis had been shut out this season.
Greenberg was able to work his way out of trouble on Sunday, courtesy of three double plays by the Rams, as Fordham turned eight of them in the series sweep.
The win improved Greenberg to 4-0 this season, and lowered his team-leading ERA to 2.22. In conference play this season, he is 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA in six appearances.
Greenberg and the Rams are back in action on Tuesday, April 28
th, when they meet the Manhattan College Jaspers at 6:30 PM. The game will be played at Duchess Stadium, the home of the Hudson Valley Renegades.
