Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University football Rams announced today the addition of two future NCAA FBS opponents as the Rams will travel to Charlotte in 2018 and Hawaii in 2020.
Â
Charlotte, a member of Conference USA who reestablished football in 2013 after a 65 year hiatus, will host the Rams on September 1, 2018. The 49ers played two years as an NCAA FCS Independent before joining Conference USA for the upcoming 2015 season. The game will be the first between the Rams and Charlotte and Fordham's first game in the U.S. south of Washington, D.C., since a contest at Davidson in 1989.
Â
Hawaii, a member of the Mountain West Conference, will bid aloha to Fordham on September 12, 2020. It will be the Rams' first game against the Rainbow Warriors and Fordham's first trip west of Ohio since a 1983 game against St. Norbert College on Lambeau Field. It will also be the team's first venture west of the Mississippi since a game at St. Mary's (Calif.) College in 1934.
Â
"These games will be great opportunities for the team to test its ability on a higher level," said head coach
Joe Moorhead. "Having played at Temple and Army over the past two years, we have seen what playing, and winning, against those schools can do to a program."
Â
The two FBS games are in addition to Fordham contests at Army in 2015 and 2017 and at Navy in 2016.
