West Windsor Township, NJ – The Fordham women's crew traveled down to Mercer Lake to compete in the 2015 Knecht Cup this weekend with the varsity 8 placing fourth in the third final and the second varsity 8 taking fifth in the third final.

The Fordham varsity 8 of
Ashleigh Aitchison,
Tecla Di Francesco,
Fiona Murtagh, Ashely Hawkesworth,
Maura O'Donnell,
Kristen Shuman,
Caroline Hamann and
Nicole Arrato, with Jackie Ramos at coxswain, opened the regatta by placing third in their heat, behind Central Florida and Boston University, to advance to the semifinals, which were moved from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning due to inclement weather. In the semis, the Rams placed sixth, just 0.45 seconds behind fifth-place West Virginia, to move on to the third final where the Fordham entry placed fourth , behind Miami, Boston University and UConn but 0.77 seconds ahead of West Virginia and well ahead of North Carolina.

The Fordham second varsity 8 of

Katie Dillon,
Jessica Kammen,
Kerry Egan, Jess LaJoie, Ari Merkle, Caroline Snyder and
Leslie Fung, with Caitlyn Sershon at coxswain, took fifth in its heat to move on to the semifinals where the Rams finished sixth, which placed them in the third final. In the third final Fordham took fifth, just behind Old Dominion but in front of the UConn entry.

Fordham also entered a varsity 4 in the regatta comprised of
Dena Bussa, Brynn Fiacchi, Sam Cerquiera and Catherine Napoli, with
Rebecca Aviles at coxswain, which placed seventh in its heat.

The Rams return to action on April 18 as they travel to Philadelphia to compete in the Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River.
