Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University football Rams reached the halfway mark of the 2015 spring practice season with session number eight this afternoon on Murphy Field.
Â
Here are some notes:
Â
Head coach
Joe Moorhead has taking over coaching the running backs after the loss of former running backs coach Tim Zetts, who accepted an assistant coaching position at Mercyhurst College where he will coach the quarterbacks.
Â
The day started with a high school coaches clinic in the Walsh Library with over 40 coaches participating. After the clinic, the coaches came out to the practice field to see the Rams in action.
Â
Defensive back
Ian Williams attended practice to encourage his former defensive teammates.
Â
It was the second straight day of practice in pads for the Rams, the first of two back-to-back spring sessions (the other will be on April 24 and 25 with the 25 being the date of the Spring Game)
Â
Following practice Moorhead reiterated to the squad that one of the goals of the spring season is to increase the team's mental and physical toughness.
Â
Both sides of the ball had some highlights with the defense picking off a few passes and the offensive breaking of a few long runs.
Â
Special teams were a theme for the day as the Rams practice punt blocking and punt returns.
