Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – The Fordham women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches, defeating Saint Joseph's University, 4-3, today at the SJU Tennis Center.
The Rams opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing two of the three doubles matches.
Elliesa Ball and
Sarah Ali defeated Alex Zachem and Aurora Davis at first doubles, 8-7 (5), but Saint Joseph's Maureen Devlin and Claire Minnoe upended
Bella Genkina and
Anika Novacek, 8-0, at the second position and Kristina Eisenbrand and Lauren Roy took third doubles from
Estelle Wong and
Julie Leong, 8-4.
Fordham won the match by taking four of the six singles matches. Wong won at third singles over Eisenbrand, 6-1, 6-2, while Leong was victorious over Devlin at the fourth position, 6-2, 6-3.
The other two Ram wins went to a third set as Ali dropped the first set to Minnoe, 7-5, at second singles but then took the second, 6-0, and won the match with a 6-4 win in the third set.
At fifth singles,
Destiny Grunin took the first set from Kelly Mulquin, 6-3, but dropped the second, 6-4. She came back to take the third, 6-4, to earn the victory.
The Rams return to action on Thursday, April 2, as they travel to Richmond to face the VCU Rams at 1:00 PM.
