Box ScoreAmherst, Mass. (March 1, 2015) – The Fordham women's tennis team traveled north on Sunday to take on the University of Massachusetts at the Bay Road Tennis Center where the Rams fell to the Minutewomen, 5-2.
The Rams opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing all three doubles matches. Ana Yrazusta Acosta and Carol Benito defeated Fordham's
Sarah Ali and
Elliesa Ball at first doubles, 8-4, while Arielle Griffin and Aarzoo Malik upended
Estelle Wong and
Julie Leong at second doubles, 8-2, and Anna Woosley and Chanel Glasper bested
Destiny Grunin and
Bella Genkina at the third position, 8-0.
In singles play, Ali got the Rams on the board with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Malik at first singles while Leong earned the other point for Fordham with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Woosley at the fourth position.
The Rams return to action on Monday, March 16 as they travel to Orlando, Florida, to face the Savannah School of Design at 1:00 p.m.
