Newport News, Va. (March 10, 2015) – Fordham University's freshman guard
Eric Paschall was named the 2015 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year it was announced by the league office today. Paschall becomes the fourth Ram to receive Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors, joining Chris Gaston (2010), Bryant Dunston (2005) and Bevon Robin (1998).

Paschall was also named to the All-Rookie team where he was joined by teammate
Christian Sengfelder, a freshman forward with the Rams. Sophomore guard
Jon Severe was also honored by the league, being selected to the All-Academic Team.

Eric PaschallPaschall is enjoying one of the most successful freshman campaigns in school history, closing out the regular season averaging 16.5 ppg, sixth in the conference and tops among all Atlantic 10 freshman. He is also fourth in the NCAA Division I in freshman scoring. Paschall, who was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice in 2014-2015, opened his collegiate career with 31 points and ten rebounds against New York Tech, setting a Fordham record for most points by a freshman in his debut. He is also averaging 5.6 rpg and has 21 steals and eleven blocks in 26 games and is fourth in the conference in free throw shooting percentage, hitting 80.0% (84-105) of his charity shots.

Sengfelder, who was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week five times in 2014-2015, averaged 11.4 ppg and 7.3 rpg in the regular season. He is ninth in the Atlantic 10, and eighth among all NCAA Division I freshmen, in rebounding and has also recorded 15 steals and 13 blocks while shooting over 48% (124-256) from the field. He is the only Ram to start all 29 games this season.

Paschall and Sengfelder, who are the eighth and ninth Fordham freshmen to earn Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors, are the only two NCAA Division I freshmen teammates who are averaging better then 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg.

Severe, who has a 3.21 GPA, is averaging 6.6 ppg and 2.8 rpg while also recording 30 assists, 19 steals and four blocks.

The Rams open the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship in Wednesday, March 11, as they face George Mason University in the Barclays Center at 6:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised live on SportsNet NY (SNY).
