Christian Sengfelder Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week

Newport News, Va. (February 9, 2015) – Fordham University freshman forward Christian Sengfelder was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played from February 2-8, it was announced by the league office today. It is the third A-10 Rookie of the Week award for Sengfelder and the fifth for the Rams this year.
 
Sengfelder got the week started by setting a season-high for rebounds, grabbing 16 in a home loss to Massachusetts on Wednesday, while also scoring nine points against the Minutemen.
 
In the Rams' other contest on the week, Sengfelder netted a team-high 22 points, tying his season-best, and pulled down eight rebounds in an 83-65 Atlantic 10 win over Saint Louis on Saturday. He was 6-for-7 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc in the game as Fordham snapped a nine-game losing streak.
 
For the week, Sengfelder shot 50.0 percent from the field (10-of-20) and 44.4 percent from behind the arc (4-for-9), averaging 15.5 ppg and 12.0 rpg along with recording a pair of blocks.
 
On the year, Sengfelder is averaging 10.9 ppg, third best on the team, and 7.0 rpg, second best on the squad.
 
The Rams (6-15, 1-9) return to action on Wednesday, February 11, as they travel to Richmond, Va., to face the University of Richmond Spiders at 7:00 p.m.
