Pair of Baseball Rams Named to College Sports Madness Preseason All-Conference Team

As the Fordham baseball season will get underway this coming weekend, two Rams received preseason accolades from College Sports Madness, as juniors Joseph Runco (Spring Brook Township, Pa.) and Brett Kennedy (Brigantine, N.J.) were named to the Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Second Team.
                     
Last season, Runco earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors from the league as well as All-Academic Team standing as a sophomore after leading the conference with 23 stolen bases.  He also led the Rams in runs scored with 35 to go with a .298 overall batting average and 25 RBI.  In league play, Runco picked up his play, batting .337 with 22 runs scored, 11 RBI, and 13 stolen bases.  
 
Kennedy was the Rams' top pitcher as a sophomore, leading the Rams in starts (14), complete games (2), wins (6), ERA (3.36), innings pitched (88.1), and strikeouts (75).  In conference action, he was even better, posting a 6-3 mark with a 2.98 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.
 
The Rams, who were picked ninth in the preseason coaches' poll, open their season in Atlanta, Georgia, this weekend.  Fordham will play at Georgia State on Friday, Georgia Tech on Saturday, and Kennesaw State on Sunday.
