Track & Field Hosts Day One of the Metropolitan Championship

Fordham's Lombardi Center Fieldhouse played host to day one of the 2015 Metropolitan Indoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday.
 
The day's events were limited to the weight throw, the pole vault, the women's pentathlon, and the first four events of the men's heptathlon.

 
Fordham had entries in both the men's and women's weight throw, as well as the men's pole vault.
 
First in the men's weight throw, Fordham scored one point as senior Austin Ruiz placed eighth overall with a distance of 45' 10".
 
Then in the women's weight throw, Hailey Serrano made the finals, but came up just short of scoring, placing ninth with a career-best mark of 42' 1 ¼".  Caitlin Hart was also in the weight throw event, finishing 12^th with a distance of 40' 2 ¼".
 
Fordham also scored in the men's pole vault, as freshman Ryan Riviere finished fifth overall, as he cleared a season-best height of 14' 3 ¼", bringing the Rams' point total to five for the championship.
 
Day two of the Metropolitan Championship will take place at the Armory Track & Field Center on Friday, beginning at 10:00 AM.
