ResultsThe 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship has come to a close at URI's Mackal Fieldhouse, and the Fordham women's track & field team finished day two with a bang, as the 4x800 relay team won their event to earn First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.
VCU won the women's team competition with 125 points, followed by Richmond and George Mason, who tied for second with 105 points. Massachusetts took fourth with 85 points, followed by Rhode Island (77.5), Dayton (57), Duquesne (48), Saint Joseph's (43.5), Saint Louis (39), Fordham (37), La Salle (25), Davidson (21), and George Washington (12).
Fordham's day was highlighted by the 4x800 relay team of
Melissa Higgins,
Kristen Stuart,
Danielle Rowe, and
Titi Fagade capturing the A-10 title in a conference and facility record time of 9:02.58.
The gold medal would not be the only medal for Fagade, as she also garnered silver in 800 meter run in 2:14.81. She was joined in the 800 meter run by
Merissa Wright, who scored seventh in the finals with a time of 2:21.86.
Mara Lieberman scored in two events on Sunday. Fordham also saw multiple scorers in the finals of the 500 and 1000 meter runs. In the 500,
Danielle Rowe took fourth in a time of 1:15.15, while Stuart was fifth in 1:15.64. Later in the 1000 meters,
Mara Lieberman grabbed seventh in 3:01.09 with Higgins taking eighth in 3:05.75.
Lieberman also found the scoring column in the mile run, taking sixth in 5:01.90.
Other individual competitors for Fordham included
Brianna Tevnan and
Brianne Roche in the 3,000 meter run, where Tevnan placed 14
th in a season-best time of 10:04.56 with Roche taking 26
th in 10:40.65. In the field events,
Kylie Farrell placed 15
th in the triple jump with a distance of 33' 9 ¼".
The last scoring event for Fordham was the 4x400 relay, which placed seventh in a time of 4:02.21.
