ResultsThe Fordham women's track & field team opened competition at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday at URI's Mackal Fieldhouse. The Rams set themselves up very well for Sunday's finals, as a total of six Fordham runners qualified among three events, while
Brianna Tevnan posted an ECAC qualifying time in the 5,000 meter run.
The day for Fordham began in the 800 meter run, where senior
Titi Fagade posted the top qualifying time for the finals, as she won her heat in 2:14.31. Freshman
Merissa Wright will join Fagade in Sunday's finals, as she finished second in her heat in a time of 2:18.34. Sophomore
Shanna Heaney just missed the cut, by taking 11
th in the preliminaries in a time of 2:18.84.
In the 1,000 meter run, senior
Mara Lieberman qualified third for the final, recording a time of 2:58.12. Senior
Melissa Higgins was right behind, qualifying seventh for the final in 2:58.85.
Titi Fagade had the top qualifying
time in the 800 meter run on Saturday. The 500 meter run saw the duo of senior
Kristen Stuart and junior
Danielle Rowe both make Sunday's final. Rowe qualified third in 1:16.01 with Stuart right behind her in fourth in 1:16.13. Freshman
Jennifer Boerke rounded out the Fordham competitors, taking 11
th in 1:19.04.
Aside from the six qualifiers for Sunday, senior
Brianna Tevnan had a season-best showing in the 5,000 meter run, as she qualified for the ECAC Championship in a time of 17:22.88, which was good for ninth overall. Fellow senior
Sarah Glockenmeier finished 20
th overall in 18:25.83.
Other individual performers on Saturday included freshmen
Laura Jaeger in the 400 meter dash (17
th – 1:02.66), and Kylie (19
th – 15' 4 ¾") and Jessica (20
th - 15' 4 ¼") Farrell in the long jump event.
The final event on day one was the distance medley relay, where Fordham's team of
Melanie Notarstefano,
Elise Tigani,
Mia Toffoli, and
Ariana Bottalico finished tenth in 12:29.99.
