Photo Gallery The 2015 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship came to an end on Saturday night at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Trailing by just two points heading into the final day, the University of Richmond came back to win the Atlantic 10 Championship with a score of 586 points, as they overtook Massachusetts, which wound up in second with 498 points. Duquesne took third with 479, followed by Davidson (437), Fordham (425), George Mason (421), La Salle (286), Saint Louis (189), Rhode Island (152), St. Bonaventure (129), and George Washington (99).
The night began with the 1650 freestyle event, where
Megan Zarriello was the lone Ram to score as she finished eighth in a time of 17:07.57.
In the 200 backstroke, Fordham had three finalists, beginning with
Theresa Goehring in the "B" final, where she was third in the heat in 2:02.88 (11
th overall). In the "A" final,
Morgan Fairclough claimed bronze, as she placed third in a season-best time of 2:00.26, while
Spencer Chappell was seventh in 2:02.61.
The next event was the 100 freestyle, where the Lulley sisters were both in the "A" final.
Shannon Lulley finished as the top Ram, taking fifth in a season-best time of 50.59 seconds, while
Chandler Lulley was eighth in 51.18 seconds.
Morgan Fairclough The 200 breaststroke event saw the senior duo of
Victoria McGovern and
Kelly Carroll in the "B" final. McGovern placed fourth in the heat in a season-best time of 2:20.66, good for 12
th overall, while Carroll was eighth in 2:23.17 (16
th overall).
The final individual event was the 200 butterfly, where
Megan Polaha tried to defend her title from a year ago. She would just get touched out in the end, earning a bronze medal for third, as she recorded a season-best time of 2:01.04. In the "B" final, Fordham's trio of
Kalena Laurent (2:05.85),
Frances Warren (2:06.57), and
Aurelia O'Keefe (2:07.53) took 13
th, 15
th, and 16
th place overall.
The final event of the championship was the 400 freestyle relay, where Fordham's team of
Shannon Lulley,
Kalena Laurent,
Megan Gray, and
Chandler Lulley took fourth in a season-best time of 3:25.12.
Overall, Fordham earned All-Atlantic 10 honors in five events, set four school records, and registered three NCAA "B" cut times during the Championship.
