ResultsThe Fordham men's track & field team currently stands in sixth place after day one of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship, which is being held at URI's Mackal Fieldhouse.

With five events completed, George Mason leads the competition with 57 points, followed by Rhode Island's 45. VCU is in third with 19, Davidson and Saint Joseph's with 17, Fordham at 15, Saint Louis and Massachusetts with nine, and La Salle with seven.

The Rams scored in three events on day one and had two runners qualify for Sunday's final.

The highlight of the night came in the final event, where the distance medley relay team of
Jonathan Annelli,
Daniel Green,
Lester Taylor, and
Thomas Slattery earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors by taking second in a season-best time of 10:03.13.
Junior Mike Turi placed sixth in the
5,000 meter run on Saturday.Â
Fordham also scored in the pole vault and 5,000 meter run. Freshman
Ryan Riviere cleared a season-best height of 14' 3 ¼" to earn fifth overall, while junior
Mike Turi grabbed sixth in the 5,000 meter run in 14:52.44. Fellow junior
Quincy O'Connor placed just outside the top eight in tenth place with a time of 15:04.61.

In the running preliminaries, freshman
Michael Campbell led the way in the 800 meter run, qualifying eighth for Sunday's final in 1:57.99. Freshman
Louis Santelli earned tenth in the 800 meters in 1:59.55, while junior
Yehia Fahmy was 12
th (2:01.90).

In the 200 meter dash, senior
Ian Williams qualified eighth in a time of 22.45 seconds. Williams just missed making the finals in the 60 meter dash, posting a time of 7.13 seconds, good for 11
th.

Other top performers on day one included senior
Austin Ruiz, who finished ninth in the weight throw event, posting a career-best mark of 47' 5 ¾", sophomore
Peter Strom in the 500 meters (15
th – 1:08.51), and the trio of sophomore
Devin Rocks (14
th – 2:35.03), freshman
Fritz Heinrich (15
th – 2:35.81) and Taylor (17
th – 2:37.71) in the 1000 meters.
