Sophomore Shortstop Earns First Career Weekly Award

In the first edition of Atlantic 10 weekly baseball awards, Fordham sophomore shortstop Luke Stampfl (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was selected as the conference's Player of the Week on Monday for his performance at the Atlanta Challenge in Georgia.

Stampfl hit .333 (4-for-12) for the weekend with two doubles, a home run, and seven RBI, as the Rams went 1-2 on opening weekend.

He started the season by hitting his first career home run on Friday against Georgia State and adding two RBI.  On Saturday, he had a monster game in the Rams' win over Georgia Tech, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and tied a career-high with five RBI.  In game two against Georgia Tech, he added a 1-for-3 effort with two runs scored and a walk.

Stampfl and the rest of the Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Friday, February 20th, when the Rams play at Florida Gulf Coast, beginning at noon.
