ResultsThe Fordham track & field team beat the weather to Boston to compete in the two-day Valentine's Day's Classic, hosted by Boston University, which began on Friday.
Friday's action saw the Fordham women take center stage, competing in six events in total.
The highlight of the evening came in Fordham's final event, the 4x400 relay, where
Danielle Rowe,
Kristen Stuart,
Merissa Wright and
Titi Fagade set a new school record of 3:47.40, finishing fourth overall. The previous mark was 3:47.45, set last season.
All four relay members also competed individually on Friday, led by Fagade, who finished sixth in the 800 meter run in 2:08.93. Rowe ran her best time of the season in the 800 meters, as she clocked in at 2:14.59, good for 44
th overall, while
Melissa Higgins (2:16.85) and
Melanie Notarstefano (2:19.93) were 58
th and 81
st overall, respectively.
Merissa Wright In the 400 meters, Stuart ran her best time this season, as she posted a time of 57.79 seconds, good for 36
th overall.
Laura Jaeger and
Kylie Farrell also ran in the 400 meter event, recording times of 59.50 seconds (68
th) and 1:00.42 (T89th), respectively.
The final member of the record setting relay to compete individually was Wright, as she registered an ECAC qualifying time of 1:15.87 in the 500 meter run, which was 17
th overall. Higgins was right behind her in 18
th place (1:16.07), while
Elise Tigani was 22
nd (1:17.06).
Mia Toffoli (1:19.01 – 33
rd) and Notarstefano (1:19.98 – 37
th) were the final two Fordham runners in the 500 meters.
The 1000 meter run saw the Rams' duo of
Mara Lieberman and
Shanna Heaney compete, as Lieberman finished 14
th in a season-best time of 2:55.36, with Heaney taking 50
th overall in 3:01.81.
The final individual event was the mile run, where the Rams had four competitors.
Brianna Tevnan was the top finisher, as she placed 69
th in 5:06.16, which was her best time of the season in the mile.
Ariana Bottalico (5:16.83 – 114
th),
Sarah Glockenmeier (5:17.47 – 118
th), and
Brianne Roche (5:21.79 – 130
th) rounded out the Rams' runners.
The Rams will continue their stay in Boston on Saturday, as day two of the Valentine's Day Classic begins at 10:15 AM with a rolling schedule.
