Box ScoreFlushing, N.Y. (February 12, 2015) – The Fordham women's tennis team traveled into Queens on Thursday to face St. John's University at the U.S. National Tennis Center where the Red Storm defeated the Rams, 6-1.
The match opened with St. John's taking the doubles point as Anastasia Polyakova and Stephanie Elgegren defeated
Elliesa Ball and
Sarah Ali at first doubles, 6-2, and Natalie Vavulina and Anna Morozova took second doubles from
Estelle Wong and
Julie Leong, 6-1.
The Rams lone point in the match came at fourth singles as
Destiny Grunin defeated Zofia Stanisz. Stanisz took the first set, 6-4, but Grunin battled back to win the second in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5) and the third, 10-4 to win the match.
Fordham returns to action on Saturday, February 14, as they travel to Binghamton to face the Binghamton University Bearcats at 5:00 p.m.
