Atlantic 10 Release Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University freshman guard
Joseph Chartouny was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played from December 6-13, it was announced today. The award is the second weekly honor for Chartouny who was also named rookie of the week on November 30.
In a pair of Fordham wins on the week, Chartouny averaged 10.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg while dishing out 13 assists and adding three steals. In an 89-84 overtime win over LIU Brooklyn on Tuesday he recorded his second double-double of the year with 16 points and ten rebounds while in a Saturday win over Coppin State, Chartouny netted four points, grabbed nine rebounds and added seven assists.
On the year, Chartouny is averaging 8.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg while recording a team-high 49 assists to go with 18 steals. He leads the Atlantic 10 in assists (5.4/game), is fourth in assist/turnover ratio (2.7) and sixth in steals (2.0/game).
The Rams, off to an 8-1 start - the best start since 1970, return to action on Saturday afternoon, December 19, as they host the University of Maine Black Bears in the Rose Hill Gym at 2:00 p.m.
