Atlantic 10 Release Brooklyn, N.Y. – Fordham University senior guard
Mandell Thomas was named to the 2015 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Defensive Team it was announced today at the league's annual media day at the Barclays Center. The awards and poll were chosen by a panel of the league's head coaches and select media members.
Thomas appeared in all 31 games at guard last winter, starting 28, and averaged 13.1 ppg, second best on the team, and 4.0 rpg, fourth on team. He also led team with 112 assists and led the conference with 73 steals (2.4 steals/game), recording at least one steal in all but two games. Thomas also ranked seventh in the Atlantic 10 in assists (3.6/game) and eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.7) while ranking 12th in scoring.
Thomas became the 35th player in Fordham history to score 1,000 career points and he enters 2015-16 season in 29th place on the all-time scoring list with 1,064 points.
The Rams open the 2015-2016 season on Saturday, November 14, as they travel to Arlington, Texas, to face the University of Texas – Arlington at 8:30 p.m.
