Jihaad Pretlow Named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham junior defensive back Jihaad Pretlow was named Corvias Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, while sophomore running back Chase Edmonds was named the College Sports Madness Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week it was announced today.
 
In a 47-41 overtime Patriot League win over Holy Cross on Jack Coffey Field last Saturday, Pretlow returned three kickoffs for 172 yards, including one for 87 yards and a touchdown that gave the Rams a 34-24 lead in the third quarter. Pretlow also notched three tackles and an interception that led to Fordham taking its first lead of the game at 20-17 in the second quarter.
 
On the year, Pretlow has recorded 42 total tackles, 30 solo, including three for a loss and he has an interception and a team-high eight pass breakups. On special teams, he has returned 19 kickoffs for 528 yards (27.8 yards/return) with the one score. He is second in the Patriot League and 21st in the NCAA FCS in kickoff return average.
 
Edmonds rushed 29 times for 162 yards and four touchdowns in the win over Lehigh. He covered all 25 yards on the ground in the overtime period, including the winning touchdown from seven yards out.
 
On the year, Edmonds has carried 156 times for 1,046 yards and 15 touchdowns. He leads the NCAA FCS in rushing touchdowns, is second in rushing yard and third in all-purpose yards (190.3/game). He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season and now has 2,884 career rushing yards, good for fifth place on the Fordham career rushing list while his four rushing touchdown give him 38 all-time, placing him second on the career rushing touchdown list, just ten behind Kirwin Watson.
 
The Rams (6-1, 2-0), who entered the Holy Cross game ranked tenth in the NCAA FCS Coaches and STATS NCAA FCS polls, return to action on Saturday, October 24, as they host Lehigh University in a Patriot League contest on Jack Coffey Field at 1:00 p.m.
