Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2015 season as they host the Holy Cross Crusaders in a Patriot League matchup on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network and can also be heard live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on WFUVsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p), Kristian O'Hara (color) and Matt Moro (sidelines) handling the announcing chores.

#10 Fordham, the 2014 Patriot League champions, enters the game with a 5-1 overall record, 1-0 in the Patriot League, after a 48-45 win at Penn last Saturday. Holy Cross enters the game with a 2-3 overall record, 0-1 in the Patriot League, after a 25-24 loss to Brown in Worcester on Saturday.

This will be the 53rd meeting between Fordham and Holy Cross on the gridiron. The Crusaders lead the all-time series, which started in 1902, 27-23-2 but Fordham has won the past three meetings, including a 45-16 win on Fitton Field last year on September 27 as Mike Nebrich completed 32 of 42 passes for 315 yards four touchdowns and Chase Edmonds rushed 26 times for 142 times and one score.

The game will also be the annual battle for the Ram-Crusader Cup. First dedicated in 1951 to the memory of Major Frank W. Cavanaugh, who was an outstanding figure in the football coaching annals of both Fordham and Holy Cross, the trophy is jointly sponsored by the Holy Cross College Clubs of New York and Long Island.  The series between Fordham and Holy Cross was interrupted after the 1954 season when Fordham dropped football, but was resumed in 1990 when the Rams joined the Crusaders as members of the Patriot League.

A few notes on the game:

Robbie Cantelli
The Fordham captains will be Kevin Anderson, George Dawson, Stephen Hodge and Garrick Mayweather, Jr.

The scout team players of the week were announced following practice on Thursday: Jalen Ollie (offense for defense), Erik Rottsolk (defense for the offense) and Joe Lisowski (special teams).

The Fordham is one of four NCAA FCS teams to have two wins over an FBS opponent since 2013, joining North Dakota State, Bethune-Cookman and Portland State. The Rams are also one of six NCAA FCS teams to have a win over an NCAA FBS school in 2015.

The Rams have now been ranked in the top 25 for 35 straight weeks.

No New York area football team has won more games since 2012 than Fordham, who has amassed 34 victories over that stretch. The closest competitor is Rutgers, who has 25 wins over the past three-plus years while the NFL's Giants (who play more games in a season than the Rams) have 25 and the Jets 22.

Fordham graduate student linebacker Stephen Hodge and junior placekicker Makay Redd were named Corvias Patriot League Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively, following the Penn game. In Fordham's 48-45 win at Penn on Saturday, Hodge led the Rams with 12 tackles, ten solo, including one for loss. He also forced a fumble which led to Fordham's first score of the day. Redd, who was injured the day before the game which limited him to kicking extra points and short field goals, came on with eight seconds on the clock and drilled a 31-yard field goal to provide the winning margin for the Rams. He also made good on all five of his PATs to earn his second Corvias Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week honor.

Despite having played in only 20 career games, sophomore running back Chase Edmonds is already in the top five on the Fordham career rushing yards and rushing touchdown lists. Edmonds's 230 rushing yards last week against Penn brings his career total to 2,722, fifth on the Fordham career rushing list while his four rushing touchdowns gives him eleven on the year and 34 in his career, second most in school history.

Tickets for the 2016 Fordham-Holy Cross game to be played at Yankee Stadium on November 12, will go on sale on November 2nd.
