NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Fordham women's volleyball standout
Natalie Martinez was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday by the league.
Martinez led the Fordham offense with 2.78 kills per set and a.333 hitting percentage in a 1-1 week for the Rams. She started the weekend by tying a season high in kills with 14 while recording four total blocks against Duquesne. A right side hitter from Palmdale, Calif., Martinez led the way in kills in a win over La Salle with 11 while producing a season-high seven service aces to fall one short of the program record for a five-set match. She also recorded a season-high and match-high six total blocks.
Fordham returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Lehigh at 7 p.m. in the final nonconference match of the regular season.
