Christian Sengfelder Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week

Newport News, Va. (January 5, 2015) – Fordham University freshman forward Christian Sengfelder was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played from December 29-January 4, it was announced by the league office today. It is the second A-10 Rookie of the Week award for Sengfelder and the third for the Rams this year.
 
Sengfelder got the week off with a bang, scoring a season-high 22 points, shooting 9-for-13 from the floor, in a 74-54 win over South Carolina State in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday afternoon. He added seven rebounds, two steals and one block in the victory while also shooting 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
 
In the Rams' other contest on the week, Sengfelder netted six points and pulled down eight rebounds in a loss to VCU on Sunday.
 
For the week, Sengfelder shot 50.0 percent from the field (11-of-22), averaging 14.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg along with recording three steals and two blocks.
 
On the year, Sengfelder is averaging 11.8 ppg, third best on the team, and 6.8 rpg, second best on the squad.
 
The Rams (5-7, 0-1) return to action on Wednesday, January 7, as they travel to Kingston, R.I., to face the University of Rhode Island Rams at 7:00 p.m.
