The Women's Rowing team recently escaped the cold temperatures of New York, traveling to Miami Beach for warmer weather and their annual winter training trip.
Designed to give the athletes a jump start on their spring season, the winter training trip allows the rowing team to train on the water without any distractions. Athletes would train twice a day, logging on average a total of 25,000 meters per day between the two practices.
"The trip is useful because each member of the team is 100% committed to becoming stronger (individually and as a team), without having to worry about classes or other commitments over the course of the week" said Team Captain
Nicole Arrato '15, "The three aspects of the trip always seem to be dedication to practices, preparation for the spring season, and a great deal of team bonding."
Miami Beach Rowing Club was the training site for the week, located along Indian Creek. While this is home for the University of Miami and Miami Beach Juniors, several teams visit this location for similar training trips for its miles of protected waterways and accessible accommodations at oceanfront hotels.

Ted Bonanno spoke highly of the progress that was made during the week. "We've been doing the trip to Miami beach for the past 24 consecutive years" Bonanno said. "This was one of most successful trips thanks to ideal weather conditions and a very enthusiastic and motivated group of athletes."
