Newport News, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly swimming award on Tuesday, and Fordham's
Megan Polaha (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) and
Liam Semple (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) were among those honored. Polaha was selected as the Women's Performer of the Week, while Semple was the Men's Rookie of the Week.
Polaha was named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week for the second time this season, after being an instrumental part of the Rams' dual meet victories against La Salle and Richmond on Saturday. She won three individual events in the tri-meet, taking first place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.08), the 200-yd individual medley (2:05.85), and the 100-yd butterfly (55.51).
Semple finished first in the 1,000-yd freestyle against Iona
on Friday with a time of
9:42,17. Semple also picked up a victory in the 200-yd freestyle (1:43.12)
on Saturday against La Salle. He also recorded second-place finishes in both the 100-yd freestyle (47.63) and the 500-yd freestyle (4:39.49) against the Explorers and was a part of the winning 400-yd freestyle relay team.
Polaha, Semple, and the rest of the Rams are back in action on Saturday, January 31
st, when Fordham hosts Massachusetts at 1:00 PM in the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
